Kinlock Falls, Alabama

If you’re like me, you follow all these awesome accounts on social media that show a bunch of cool places with mountains or waterfalls and all you can think is, “I want to go there!”

Well that’s exactly what I had been doing for quite sometime until I decided, why not go find a beautiful place to adventure to.

I told Alec one night how I wanted to go on an adventure and he thought it was a great idea! Now all we had to do was find where to go. We decided looking for some place close to plan a day trip, since we are college student athletes, and time or money aren’t always on our side.

I was searching online when I came across the William B. Bankhead national forest in Alabama. It was only a little over two hours away and it said it had some waterfalls we could check out.

I saw a picture of Kinlock Falls and we decided to go that weekend. However, it wasn’t exactly that easy. I had to do a little bit of research to find out exactly how to find this place. Even when we got to the national forest, we still got a little lost and had to take some time searching online for some more advice from a local person who posted directions. (Tip: Search on google, “directions to kinlock falls”)

Eventually we made it! And yes, it was totally worth it. The waterfall was beautiful and you could even jump off this one edge into the water hole. The whole forest and landscape around the area was captivating! We spent hours exploring down the river, cooling off in the water, and just relaxing in the presence of the mesmerizing waterfall.

It was our first real adventure that we went on and I would have to give it 5/5 stars. We even went back a second time about a month later. The second time we took some risks and jumped off the 20-25ft cliff. It was a thrilling experience holding our breath as we plunged into the cool, refreshing water. Alec and I each did three jumps and I tried doing a backflip which was very scary but totally worth it!

We had such a fun time here both the times that we went. If you’re looking for a beautiful waterfall, a fun swimming hole, and an awesome adventure, this is the place for you!
